Our Work
DIL Trust UK has been championing the cause of education, with a special emphasis on empowering girls, for over 20 years. Our mission is simple yet profound; to ensure education is within reach of every child in Pakistan.
Proudly, we are guiding nearly 90,000 underprivileged children towards a brighter future within the nurturing environment of our schools that are spread across the nation.
At our schools, we focus on child-centred education and activity-based learning. We provide career guidance and strong teacher support so that every child is empowered to succeed in tomorrow’s world. We have been a pioneer in implementing a range of educational technologies, such as its Technology- Enabled Academic Learning Program (TEAL) and E-Libraries. Our efforts are reshaping lives for generations to come.
Our Work

Education is a universal right for which we share a global responsibility. Despite the increase in access to education, nearly half of Pakistani children drop out of school before the age of 16.
In DIL communities we have seen, one in three children has not completed primary education. Girls drop out at twice the rate of boys, lowering female literacy rates in some areas to a mere 8%. With 60% of Pakistan’s population living on less than $1 a day, meaningful education is the only viable pathway to socio-economic empowerment.

Scalable Growth With Proven Results:
The child has always been and will always be at the heart of what we do. Driven by the conviction that all children should have equal opportunities to reach their full potential, we are dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality, child-centred learning environments.
With over 20 years of experience, DIL Trust UK-supported schools in Pakistan have built a model that is both effective and scalable. In the past two years alone, we have doubled our reach, proving that our innovative, cost-effective model can grow sustainably.
By 2030, we aim to reach 500,000 students annually through an expanded network of high-impact schools.
DIL Trust UK programmes are transforming lives and changing communities. The following indicators demonstrate how DIL Trust UK promotes engagement in learning, addresses gender disparity, and leads to better academic and life outcomes.

Our Work

Community participation and trust are at the heart of what we do. After 16 years in the field, we have earned a high degree of trust, which has allowed us to encourage female enrollment and attendance, provide access to technology, and build a sense of community ownership.
The child has always been, and will always be, at the heart of what we do. Impelled by the belief that all children should have an equal opportunity to reach their greatest potential, we are committed to delivering affordable, high-quality education. Our synthesis of technologically driven learning, rigorous teacher training, tailored curricula, and project-based activities has enabled students to apply the concepts they learn to everyday life while exploring the farthest limits of their imagination.

Teacher Training

As DIL Trust UK was mandated to provide quality teacher education itself, the best way to achieve this was to build the capacity of teachers and support staff, so that learning could be improved and children graduating from the DIL and DIL Trust UK schools could compete with the best in the future. During the summer of 2006, DIL hired its trainers, conducted a needs assessment, and planned its training according to the specific needs of the community teachers.
The results were so positive that DIL and DIL Trust UK realized that it had to provide its teachers with training geared to their particular needs, along with continuous on-site support and feedback. DIL Trust UK is committed to raising the standard of education in all of its schools by:
Providing ongoing teacher training.
Improving school construction and the learning environment.
Establishing libraries and computer labs.
Building the capacity of field staff.
Setting up vocational training.
Setting up a mentor system for DIL Trust UK students.

The Gateway Programme

This centre would design the training program according to the needs of teachers in community schools in rural areas, after consultation with all its stakeholders – partners, field staff, and the teachers themselves. At the moment, there is no educational institute that caters specifically to the needs of rural teachers, and DIL and DIL Trust UK hope that, in the future, it can open its doors to all those who wish to avail themselves of its services and use its materials.
Most importantly, DIL assigned two Master of Public Policy graduates from UCLA, John Hellmann and Sarah Simons, to study the existing professional development practices in DIL and DIL Trust UK’s projects and identify the most effective ways to improve teacher development. The excellent report they produced after seven months of intense work is the basis for much of the program design, and we are grateful for their extremely valuable input.
